Plenty of people claim to be patriotic. But West Chester, Ohio Trustee Lee Wong has the scars to prove it.

Lee revealed those scars during a powerful speech about the anti-Asian violence taking place across the country. The scars were sustained during military training exercises. Wong served 20 years of active duty in the US Army.

“Is this patriot enough?” Wong asked, as he unbuttoned his shirt and showed his marred chest during a recent board meeting. He recounted instances of racism he has personally experienced, despite his clear love for America — despite his choice to put it all on the line for the country he came to years ago.
