Water Agency Programs Specialist II (Water Education)

The Sonoma County Water Agency seeks an experienced educator for a Water Agency Programs Specialist II position on the Water Education team.  This individual will be responsible for the full scope of program development, implementation, and evaluation of water-related educational programs for students and teachers.  In this role, the Water Agency Program Specialist II will also:

  • Align educational programs with current state and federal science standards
  • Conduct presentations at fairs, community events, and other locations
  • Plan, develop, and facilitate naturalist and environmental programs related to watershed awareness and water-use efficiency, wetlands, sustainability, general water science, fishery restoration efforts, and other habitat enhancement's
  • Research and write a variety of reports on assigned projects
  • Market, implement, and evaluate staff development workshops for teachers
  • Prepare reports, assess student learning, evaluate program efficacy and teacher satisfaction, prepare public-facing documents, and develop online, educational content

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • A teaching credential and experience working in classroom settings
  • A Bachelor's degree with coursework in education, environmental studies, public relations, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of education and public outreach programs
  • The ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
