Join the Department of Agriculture/Weights and Measures as a Senior Agricultural Program Assistant!

As a Senior Agricultural Program Assistant, you will support the Agricultural Division to protect the agricultural and horticultural industries of the County. Additionally, you will:

  • Provide field and office support for agricultural programs such as the Pest Detection Trapping Program, focusing on the trapping of Glassy-winged Sharpshooter, European Grapevine Moth, exotic fruit flies, and other pests
  • Measure canopy and crop loss determination as part of the cannabis ordinance
  • Compile data to write and publish acreage and crop reports
  • Serve as a lead worker for Agricultural Program Assistants

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • Previous field and/or agricultural work experience
  • Experience performing field inspections
  • The ability to collect and analyze data
  • Flexibility to work in many different programs
  • Experience with basic administrative functions, including data entry and customer service
  • Experience as a lead worker and/or specialist in an agricultural program

Qualifications for this position normally include course work or training in the natural or agricultural sciences, statistics and related subjects AND lead work or subject matter specialty work on special agricultural or related scientific projects of a year or more.
