Park Maintenance Leadworker Pay Range: $23.43 - $28.48 Hourly

The City of Ventura is now accepting applications for the position of Park Maintenance Leadworker.  This position plays an important role in assigning and prioritizing work of staff while ensuring crew safety at all times.  The Park Maintenance Leadworker is also responsible for providing training to staff and improving work methods and procedures.
The Park Maintenance Leadworker has the additional responsibility to plan, direct, coordinate and participate in the planting, fertilizing, trimming, renovation and general care of trees, shrubs, turf and other landscaped areas. In addition, this position is responsible for cleanliness of park area restrooms; performing minor repairs to irrigation systems and may be responsible for programming water usage. The Park Maintenance Leadworker also conduct inspections of facilities, ensuring cleanliness of park area restrooms; and provide trash and litter clean-up.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to effectively perform all aspects of landscape maintenance; plan, coordinate and direct the activities of an assigned group; train and instruct employees in the proper and safe methods of landscape maintenance, pesticide application, and in the operation of equipment associated with landscape maintenance; develop and provide written schedules and reports to supervisor; and develop an annual maintenance plan.

Minimum Qualifications
A combination of training, education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and three years of experience as a groundskeeper, landscape maintenance worker or related position. College courses in horticulture, park maintenance, natural resources, soils or related areas are highly desirable. Relevant college level courses or Certified Landscape Technician Certification may substitute for up to one year of experience.
License: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
Certificate: Within six months of employment, incumbent is required to obtain and thereafter maintain a State of California Qualified Applicator Certificate OR License (Category B - Landscape Maintenance).
