The County of Santa Barbara is hiring for a Network Security Architect position in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Division of General Services.
We are looking for a Network Security Architect that is as comfortable white boarding complex software architectures with a roomful of engineers as they are briefing an executive audience. As a Network Security Architect, you will be responsible for evaluating, designing, building, testing and implementing IT systems. This position reports to the IT Enterprise Architect Supervisor and collaborates with a team of IT Architects responsible for enterprise systems. You will mentor (but not supervise) ICT’s network and security engineers and technicians.
The ICT Security Team supports all enterprise cybersecurity systems, operations, and responds to cybersecurity incidents. The ICT Network Team supports the countywide network of over 10,000 nodes in over 200 physical locations. In addition to anticipating possible security threats and identifying areas of weakness in a network system, you must respond promptly and effectively to network outages and possible breaches of security.

The scope of technologies include, but are not limited to; Next Generation Firewalls, Web Application Firewalls, End Point Protection, Intrusion Prevention Systems, Vendor and Employee Remote Access, Vulnerability scanning, and Public Key Infrastructure (“Security Systems”), Routing (MPLS, OSPF, BGP), Switching, Wireless, Network Access Control and Virtual Private Networks (“Network Systems”).
We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable about IT Security best practices and compliance issues, has a background in Networking, has excellent troubleshooting skills, and enjoys job diversity.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You will be a seasoned professional with strong communications skills, significant professional experience in your area of expertise specific to a complex government environment, and leadership experience that includes providing instruction, motivating and mentoring others, and successfully building relationships.
SALARY: $93,870.31 - $114,597.50 DOE/DOQ annually plus additional annual cash allowance of $6,149.26. Standby & overtime pay when applicable. A great benefits package is also included, please see the application link for more details.
