The County of San Luis Obispo (SLO) Information Technology Department (ITD) is looking for an experienced Information Technology leader to oversee one of the County's enterprise applications development teams. The executive team is looking for an energetic leader with proven experience developing, managing, and supporting applications; one who will guide, inspire, and lead staff, strive to exceed client expectations, and manage budget and resources effectively. The chosen individual will be part of the leadership team developing strategies to take county government into a cloud based, secure, and mobile future. This position reports to the Applications Manager and will work alongside two other supervisors. This position could initially oversee a staff of six that manage the ERP system, depending on experience, however the team may expand.
The Applications development teams support the County’s enterprise-wide applications, including the Criminal Justice Information System, the ERP System SAP, Property Tax, and custom web applications. Software technologies include:
Future areas of expansion include the development of cloud based, secure, mobile apps; business intelligence; and the creation of dashboards illustrating data sharing among agencies.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with proven experience developing, managing, and supporting applications. This leader will excel at managing multiple priorities; mentor, inspire and drive a team; and develop, hire, train and manage talent. Collaborative in nature and a great communicator, the chosen candidate will bridge the gap between technical and non-technical internal and external stakeholders while leveraging emerging technologies to meet our client's needs.
Either A: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science or a closely related field. (Job-related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.) In addition, four years of experience in an information technology environment in any of the following fields: systems administration, systems engineering, software engineering, database administration, operating systems, network administration, radio communications, project management or a similar field in a multi-platform environment. (A post-graduate degree in a related field may substitute for one year of the required experience.)
OR B: An associate’s degree or 60 semester units or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university or completion from a job-related, accredited vocational institution. In addition, six years of experience in an information technology environment in any of the following fields: systems administration, systems engineering, software engineering, database administration, operating systems, network administration, radio communications, project management or a similar field in a multi-platform environment.
Annual Salary: $94,452 - $114,795 plus a great benefits package!
