The Human Services Agency (HSA) of the County of San Mateo is seeking a qualified Human Services Manager II to plan, direct, coordinate, implement and evaluate comprehensive social or community service programs for a multi-disciplinary human services program area that has county-wide impact; evaluate goals, objectives, policies and procedures related to programs; provide leadership and coordination to community groups, public and private agencies, advisory boards and volunteers in planning and implementing programs; provide highly complex staff support to senior-level management; and exercise direct and indirect supervision over managerial, professional, technical and clerical staff, including consultants and contract service provider systems.

 

The current vacancy is in the Economic Self Sufficiency Division of the Human Services Agency. The Human Services Manager II is responsible for a number of public assistance program areas, including Medi-Cal, CalFresh, CalWORKs and General Assistance delivered in regional offices throughout the County. Further, the position calls for the development of close, collaborative working relationships with other system of care agencies as well as with other service providers in the County.

 

In addition to having a demonstrated record of working in a cooperative manner with other agencies, both public and non-profit, the successful candidate will also have a demonstrated record of establishing strong community partnerships. The Human Services Manager II will provide critical leadership and oversight to program operations, staff supervision and partner engagement.

A typical way to qualify is three years of increasingly responsible experience in a health, social or community services organization, including significant responsibility for funding, budget development, program utilization, and/or evaluation or coordination of community resources.
