San Antonio College, and NHRA Motorsports Museum among many other museums, educational institutions and attractions.  As a full-service City, the residents, businesses, and visitors are served by 610.8 full-time positions and 150 part-time employees among the in-house departments of: Administration, Development Services, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Library, Neighborhood Services, Police, Public Works, and Water Resources. Police services. Fire protection, animal control, and building and safety are provided through contract services.

The Human Resources/Risk Management Director in an integral member of the executive team and throughout the organization responsible for leading an excellent Department team in the delivery of responsive, progressive, and professional, compensation and benefits, recruitment and retention, employee development, and risk and liability, fiscally responsible programs, as well as city-wide emergency/disaster preparedness, for the overall success and continuity of city services.  The Department is additionally responsible for labor relations and negotiations; Title I and II ADA coordination; and policy development.  Typical requirements include 8 years of progressively responsible professional experience in public sector human resources including 3 years of supervisory and management responsibilities, the equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human resources, public administration, business administration or a related field, and the possession of or ability to obtain a California drivers’ license.  Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities may qualify.  A Master’s degree is desirable.  The annual salary range of the position is $147,253 to $197,333, and the City provides an excellent benefit package.
