The City of Cupertino is seeking an experienced human resources professional with a collaborative, innovative and empathetic management style to serve as its Human Resources Manager. You will join a talented team with expertise in many areas of human resources including benefits, recruitment and HRIS. You will have the opportunity to launch the Human Resources Division into a paperless era. Some of the upcoming projects include: new performance evaluation system; streamlining the onboarding process; and implementation of paperless files.
The Human Resources Manager directs the activities and operations of the Human Resources Division; performs administrative duties related to developing, directing, and implementing programs and services to City departments in the areas of employee relations; labor contract negotiation and administration; recruitment, selection, and promotion; classification and compensation; performance appraisal; training and organizational development; benefits administration; HRIS and central personnel records and files (including interfacing with automated systems), workers’ compensation and risk management. This position is a member of the City’s management team and participates on various Citywide committees, as well as participating in organizational, operational, and budgetary planning meetings related to the human resource functions of the City.
This position requires the equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, personnel administration, or a related field with a master’s degree and additional management and leadership training desired; and five years of increasingly responsible experience in public human resources administration, including two years of supervisory experience. Employee relations, training, and development experience is highly desirable.
