The Bear Valley Community Services District (District) is the municipal service provider for the Bear Valley Springs community located in the Tehachapi Mountains in Southern California, approximately 125 miles north of Los Angeles. The District is currently seeking a highly qualified, motivated, visionary leader with solid management, organization, and financial skills to serve as its next General Manager. The ideal candidate will possess a strong customer service orientation, outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and will be someone with a passion for public service and a commitment to good governance. The District is seeking a candidate with the ability to, in support of the Board of Directors, establish a long-term, strategic vision for the organization. The successful candidate will be capable of providing effective leadership to staff and managing the District in a highly organized, detailed oriented, and appropriate fashion, while remaining flexible and willing to pivot to meet the goals and priorities of the organization. The General Manager should be someone who understands and values the needs of the community being served. Any combination of training, education, and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and ability to perform the duties of the position are qualifying. At least seven (7) years of full-time public-sector experience with at least five (5) years in senior or executive management, ideally with cities, counties or districts that provide multiple diverse services; and a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public or Business Administration, Public Finance, Political Science, or a related field, is desired. A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred. Experience in complex California government agencies is critical and will be highly emphasized.
