Long Beach (pop 470,000) is located on the Pacific coast just south of Los Angeles and adjacent to Orange County, spanning more than 51 square miles.  The seventh-largest city in California and one of the most diverse in the nation, Long Beach is a full-service Charter City with 5,581 staff.  The Finance Department operates with support of 242 FTE.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative municipal finance professional with the ability to manage a large, complex financial portfolio. This strategic leader will be an excellent communicator and thrive in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.  Knowledgeable in best practices, this finance professional will have broad experience streamlining processes and leading creative budget reduction strategies with a focus on community priorities.  Six years of progressively responsible finance experience supervising professional staff and a Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration or other relevant discipline is required.  A CPA or Master’s degree will be considered favorably.
