The City of Weed is currently recruiting for the position of Finance Director. Weed, California is nestled at the base of Mount Shasta in the Cascade Mountains and halfway between San Francisco and Portland. The community is surrounded by natural beauty, breathtaking vistas, and unmatched year-round outdoor recreation. The City is a historic lumber town which has retained much of its early 1900's charm, while transitioning into a tourist destination. An easy one-hour drive north of Redding on Interstate 5 brings you to our home where you may enjoy abundant lakes and rivers, beautiful forests, wildlife, scenic drives, local art, festivals, live music, and a friendly community.

The Finance Department administers the City of Weed's finance activities, including the coordination and planning of all City financial information. This department provides cost-effective financial and management services to the City Council, City Departments, and other governmental units. The City of Weed adopts a two-year budget. The City operates on a fiscal year basis beginning July 1 and ending on June 30. The City of Weed's budget process begins in early spring of each odd-numbered year when each department develops and submits requests for the next two-year's operating budget and the five-year capital improvement program. In April and May, the City Council hold a series of workshops to discuss the requested budgets. The Final Budget is approved in June after holding at least one public hearing on the proposed budget and reviewing all appropriations and sources of financing.

Minimum Requirements:
• Combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from college with major work in accounting/finance and four years of increasingly responsible accounting and supervisory experience.
• Proficiency in business software
• Extremely knowledgeable in financial forecasting, accounting principles, and financial data analysis
• Must not have any felony convictions. A thorough background investigation will be conducted. Applicants must meet standards regarding acceptable employment history, honesty, driving, and convictions records
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, other employees and the general public.

• Salary Range:$73,884 - $89,808

• 3% Incentive for Associates, 3 % (up to 6%) for Bachelors (must be applicable towards field)
• 136 Hr. of Vacation and 96 hr. of Sick Leave accrual per yr.

• Longevity Pay range from 5% to 15%
