THE ORGANIZATION: The Ventura County Probation Agency is charged by the courts with the direct supervision of approximately 9,000 adult offenders and 2,500 juvenile offenders on probation, as well as performing two mandated functions: the preparation of sentencing reports for the courts and the operation of the Juvenile Facilities.
THE POSITION: Under general supervision (Personnel Assistant - Non Exempt) or general direction (Personnel Analyst I) of the Probation Agency Human Resources Manager, provides professional support to the disability and return-to-work functions for the Probation Agency. Performs related work as required; provides information, reports as well as responds to requests for assistance, coordination and intervention within the areas of leave of absence, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work integration, monitors for compliance with applicable rules and regulations, including California Labor Code, Workers' Compensation, Government Code, Safety and OSHA regulations.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will possess considerable professional experience with return-to-work, the interactive process and reasonable accommodation; will possess strong written and oral communication skills; and will have strong interpersonal skills necessary to foster effective working relationships.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
Personnel Assistant - NE: A typical way to meet the minimum qualifications would be any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to an Associate's degree in a related field or a Human Resources Certificate from an accredited university AND One (1) year of experience with Leave of Absence, Workers' Compensation, Disability Management or Interactive Processes which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Personnel Analyst I: An equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a highly related field from an accredited university AND One (1) year of experience with Leave of Absence, Workers' Compensation, Disability Management or Interactive Processes which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Personnel Assistant -NE/Personnel Analyst I: Additional experience may substitute for the education on a year-for year basis.
