The Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water) is hiring a Deputy Administrative Officer of Information Technology (IT Director) to lead and oversee IT applications, infrastructure and services for the utility, which includes size and scope. The position IT Director will lead the IT Division and ensure the core IT services are met for all infrastructure, applications, networking, data center and customer services. The IT Director reports to the Chief Operating Officer and oversees 32 staff and a $25.6M budget; the division supports 13 staffed facilities with secure networks connecting over 80 locations, 400 physical and virtual servers, 1,100 computers/tablets, and has a central data center with nine satellite data centers for business continuity. In addition, the division supports a hybrid TDM/VoIP telecommunications network with over 2,500 phones, 180 emergency service radios, over 200 mobile devices, and over 125 software applications including:
Asset Management (IBM Maximo)
Email/calendar (Microsoft Exchange)
Microsoft Active Director
The IT Division is broken into two business units: Software Services and Infrastructure Services. Through extensive partnership with business stakeholders, the division has recently completed an IT Strategic Plan Roadmap, which focuses on four key areas; Data and Analytics, Modernization, Partnership and IT Division Performance.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, computer or software engineering, business administration, public administration, or related field.
Six years of increasingly responsible administrative managerial or professional experience in the related areas of responsibility mentioned herein.
Public Sector/water utility experience is ideal.
