The City of Stockton is seeking to fill a Director position in the Human Resources Department. This is a growth opportunity for an experienced Human Resources professional who is committed to public service, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and places an emphasis on developing collaborative organizational culture.  The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with a big picture focus, who has the skills and experience needed to develop staff, help the City achieve its vision, and take the organization to the next performance level.  The chosen candidate will also have expertise in labor and employee relations.

Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, industrial relations, or a closely related field and seven years of management or supervisory experience in multiple areas of the Human Resources function, including labor relations.  These following advanced degrees may substitute on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of three years, for the required work experience: M.S. in Human Resources Management, M.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, J.D., M.P.A. in Public Administration, or M.B.A. in Business Administration.  Experience in a public agency setting is desirable.
