Health Care Agency
The Health Care Agency is the largest department in the County of Ventura and employs approximately 3,000 people; 1,100 of those in direct patient-care positions. The Health Care Agency is a comprehensive healthcare system that encompasses the Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC), Santa Paula Hospital, 24 primary care clinics, 11 specialty care clinics, the Public Health Department, and the Behavioral Health Department. VCMC is also home to the top-rated (by Doximity and U.S. News & World Report) Family Medicine Residency Program in the United States and achieved an “All Cases” meritorious award for surgical care. It is also a West County Level II Trauma Center.
Director Health Care Agency
Reporting to the County Executive Officer (CEO) and working closely with the Board of Supervisors (Board) and the Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC) Oversight Committee, the Director Health Care Agency is responsible for the planning, implementation, and administration of all policies, programs, and services related to the County of Ventura Health Care Agency, which is a comprehensive system including the Ventura County Medical Center, Santa Paula hospital, and affiliated clinics; Mental Health; Public Health; and the Ventura County Health Care Plan.
The Successful Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced, highly-motivated executive with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a passion for providing the highest quality of healthcare services. This individual will also have a demonstrated track record of establishing successful relationships among a variety of stakeholders, along with extensive experience, either as a practitioner or in an administrative role, working in a comprehensive medical system, including inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, and mental and public health facilities and services. The ideal candidate will value and practice initiatives that support diversity, equity, inclusion and unity. Candidates should be familiar with and well-versed in California's 2020 Waiver program. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess strong financial and business acumen.
