As a member of Irvine’s executive team, the Director of Community Services will shape Irvine’s future by providing exceptional service, innovative programs, and diverse cultural experiences for all City residents. The Director oversees events and community service programs including athletics, aquatics, senior services, fine arts, youth and family services, community parks and recreation, animal care services, disability services and transportation, facility reservations, and contract classes. The ideal candidate for this role will be a confident leader, possessing an established foundation in municipal park and recreation services. The Director must possess the ability to advance key department procedures and manage across a variety of park, recreational, and service operations in a fiscally responsible manner. The selected candidate will possess a high degree of emotional intelligence while working collaboratively with all City departments, community members, as well as elected and appointed officials. The ideal candidate will focus on improvement and efficiency initiatives with the ability to succeed in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The appointed Director will possess exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in public administration, parks/recreation administration, human services or related field preferred and eight years of director level experience in managing a broad range of recreation and social service programs, including parks planning and development, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
