Known as the birthplace and heart of the Silicon Valley, Palo Alto is not only home to Stanford University; it is also the worldwide leader in cutting-edge technology, medicine and green innovation. Palo Alto is a full-service Charter City with a council-manager form of government. Two Deputy City Managers will be responsible for a wide variety of projects as well as strategic initiatives that support City Council priorities and the city’s annual workplan.

Ideal candidates will be results-oriented self-starters with high emotional intelligence and impressive analytical skills. The demonstrated ability to balance and manage multiple priorities simultaneously is required to be successful in this role. Exceptional political acumen and outstanding interpersonal skills will also be expected. Ten years of increasingly responsible and broad public sector experience is desirable. A Bachelor’s degree is required and a Master’s degree is preferred.
