The City of Hemet is currently looking for a proven leader and experienced professional to serve as the Community Development Director. The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering high-quality services and is an individual who can assist the City Manager with the vision of moving the City forward.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:  Under the general direction of the City Manager, the Community Development Director plans, directs, manages, and oversees the operations of the Community Development Department, including  Planning, Building and Code Enforcement. Controls staffing levels and departmental budget; participates as a member of the executive management team; fosters cooperative working relationships among City departments and with intergovernmental and regulatory agencies; and performs related work as required.


Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Urban Design, Land Use Planning, Business Administration or a related field. A Master's degree is highly desirable.

Experience: Five (5) years progressively responsible planning management experience, including three (3) years of supervisory experience.

License: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid and appropriate California driver's license  and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

Certificates: American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification highly desirable.
