Salary: $166,935.40 - $233,732.48 Annually, plus benefits

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) reports to the Board of Supervisors and Chief Executive Officer and serves as an “at-will” employee who is exempt from the Civil Service System. The CIO has full responsibility for the Information Technology Services Department, under administrative direction from the Chief Executive Officer, the CIO is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the operation of the central information technology department; and formulating County-wide information technology strategy and policies; and performing related work as required.

The County of Ventura seeks a dynamic and innovative Chief Information Officer with a passion for using technology to provide vital services to our community. The CIO will lead efforts to continue to transform the County’s technology and to adopt digital innovations to meet the technology challenges of the County.

The new CIO will drive innovation, strategy, planning, architecture, technology standards and application best practices. They will be dedicated to excellence in operation and service delivery, while maintaining a focus on innovation. In addition to being a visionary, the CIO will have direct oversight of Applications and infrastructure that includes, but is not limited to Cloud Services, Cyber Security, Networking, Radio, loT, and Telecommunications.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with the ability to evangelize and simply explain modern technology in a business-friendly way, are a must. Incumbent will engage with senior level business discussions and needs to have a passion for solving difficult business problems with creative application of technology. The successful candidate will join our world class executive talent at the County, coupling their collegial, compassionate and genuine personality with their robust intelligence and political savvy to foster effective relationships throughout the County and with its stakeholders. 
Extensive experience in Information Technology in the public or private sector which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Examples of qualifying education and experience are:

A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or other closely related field; and
Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in information systems which included five (5) years of experience in a senior management or administrative capacity, with accountability for planning, organizing and implementing information and telecommunication systems and associated staff for a large organization with diverse line operations.
Significant experience in private and/or public-sector in a large agency comprised of diverse departments including, but not limited to: law enforcement, health care, and social services; managing large technology teams; ability to present both technical and business topics to large audiences; ability to write clearly and to various levels of customers.
A graduate degree in MBA, MPA, Information Systems or closely related field; PMP accreditation, and Six Sigma Green Belt accreditation are highly desired.
Must possess a valid CA driver license.
