Chief Engineer

Plans, directs, coordinates, inspects and supervises the work of professional and sub-professional engineering staff engaged in field and office civil engineering work involving material testing, construction inspection of roads, bridges, buildings and related structures for conformance to design specifications; directs and supervises a variety of survey projects and traffic engineering studies; acts as agent for the County in negotiations with contractors, consultants, other agencies and the public; supervises and performs technical and professional work including preparation of plans, specifications and comprehensive engineering reports and estimates; reviews and may approve official land survey documents, maps and official record files of surveys performed; provides engineering services and assistance to other County departments and agencies; acts as agent for the County before state regulatory agencies and legislative bodies and at public meetings; prepares requests for proposals; interviews, hires, supervises and evaluates staff; confers with the Director of Public Works on problems and issues affecting the Engineering Division; represents the Engineering Division at community and professional meetings and conferences; prepares and monitors division budgets and expenditures; assists in the development and implementation of administrative policies See Job Posting at for minimum qualifications and detailed information.
