About the Position
Mono County, California is recruiting for the position of Assistant Director of Finance – Auditor / Controller in the County’s Department of Finance. The recruitment remains open until filled, with the first review scheduled for the week of December 16, 2019, and an anticipated start date of January 2020. Under the direction of the Director of Finance, this position assists with planning, directing, managing, and overseeing the functions, operations and services of the County Auditor-Controller Division within the Department of Finance, including the supervision of six employees, the maintenance of accurate financial records, and the timely filing of federal and state reports. The annual salary range is $100,000 to $120,000, depending on qualifications and experience of the successful applicant. Mono County provides generous benefits, including Cal PERS retirement (2.5% at age 55 if non-PEPRA eligible), medical, dental, vision, and 401a deferred compensation matching contributions. This position also receives annual merit leave of 40 hours, sick leave accrued at one day per month, and vacation accruals that start at ten days per year.

Mono County covers 3,132 square miles and is home to 14,200 residents. The Mono County seat is in Bridgeport. Mono County is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors. The County employs approximately 325 FTE’s and has a Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Budget of $129.8 Million. The County Administrative Officer is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the County and the supervision of 13 operating departments. The County has three elected department heads: Assessor, District Attorney, and Sheriff-Coroner.

About the Department of Finance
The Department of Finance provides accounting, budgeting, payroll, cash management and investing, tax billing and collecting and other financial services delivered through two divisions: Auditor-Controller and Treasurer-Tax Collector. Staffing consist of 13 FTEs and a 2019-2020 operating budget of $2,022,585.
