The City of Stockton, California is seeking an Assistant Director of Municipal Utilities for Design-Build and an Assistant Director of Municipal Utilities for Operations. The Municipal Utilities Department (MUD) is responsible for providing water, wastewater, and stormwater services for residential, commercial, and industrial customers within the Stockton City limits and beyond. The MUD has 217 approved full-time positions spread across the following areas: Administration, Business Services, Collections, Engineering, Environmental Compliance, Laboratory, Maintenance, Stormwater, Wastewater, Water, and Water Resources. The Department has an annual operating budget of $135.7 million. The Assistant Director of Municipal Utilities for Design-Build will be responsible for a $150M wastewater treatment plant Progressive Design-Build project that is currently underway and will lead the wastewater treatment plant design-build effort through to completion over the next 5-7 years. The Assistant Director of Municipal Utilities for Operations will manage the Municipal Utilities Department’s day-to-day operations.

 

Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of progressively responsible experience in utilities project management with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity which involved coordination and management of multiple projects or municipal utilities operation. 3 years of full-time experience in the operation of water, wastewater, and stormwater systems and facilities is desired. Both Assistant Director of Municipal Utilities positions have an annual salary up to $164,003. The City also offers an excellent benefit package that includes CalPERS retirement.
