Cosumnes Community Services District, Elk Grove, CA
Located in California’s Central Valley about 15 miles south of Sacramento, the Cosumnes Community Services District (District) is an exciting, specialized autonomous special district that provides parks and recreation and fire protection services to an estimated 205,000 persons. The District’s 157 square-mile service area includes the cities of Elk Grove and Galt, CA, and the unincorporated area of south Sacramento County. The District employs 346 full-time and over 470 part-time staff, and has a 2020/21 FY budget of $130 million.
The Administrator of Parks & Recreation is an at-will contract position, reporting to the General Manager. The Administrator is a member of the Strategic Management Team and serves as the
principal leader of the Parks & Recreation Department’s two divisions, Recreation Services and Park and Golf Operations, each supervised by a director. The FY 2020/21 departmental operating budget of $37.9 million supports 170.28 FTE (81.0 FT, 89.28 PT).
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in recreation, public, or business administration, or a closely related field, master’s degree preferred. Ten years of increasingly responsible park and recreation management experience including administrative/ management experience, staff supervision, budgeting, program planning, and promotional activities, required. Experience with unions, labor relations, and collective bargaining all highly desired. CPRP or CPRE certifications desirable.
The salary range for this position is $163,500 to $189,294, DOQE. Comprehensive benefits. Relocation assistance subject to negotiation.
