About the position
San Joaquin County Public Health Services is seeking an experienced nursing manager to join their leadership team as the Children’s Medical Services (CMS) Manager. This is a management level position that is responsible for the supervision and management of all of the Public Health CMS programs which include in part; California Children Services, Child Health and Disability Prevention and the Medical Therapy Unity. These are statewide programs that provide recourses to qualifying children living in San Joaquin County. It is the role of the CMS Manager to ensure that all programs are functioning effectively and in accordance with State contract requirements.
The ideal Candidate
A qualified candidate will be a licensed and experienced nurse with management level clinical or administrative experience. They will possess knowledge of the goals, functions and programs that make up a Public Health agency. A well qualified candidate would have an understanding of law and regulations surrounding licensing, Medi-cal managed care, and clinical operations. Previous experience supervising or managing a Children’s Medical Services program in a California Public Health Agency is highly desirable. An ideal candidate will embrace PHS’ evolving horizontal leadership style and work closely with other managers across the department as part of the management team.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four years of progressively responsible clinical or administrative experience, including two years in a supervisory or management capacity.
Substitution: Possession of a Master’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, or a closely related field may be substituted for one year of the required non-supervisory experience.
License: Possession of a valid registration as a nurse in the State of California and possession of a valid California Drivers License.
Desirable Qualification: Previous experience in a Children’s Medical Services program.
