Job Description
SALARY:
$88,538.16 - $126,324.69 Annually, plus Benefits

POSITION:
Under general direction of the APCD Manager – Engineering Planning, Rules, and Incentives, the APCD Supervising Air Quality Engineer is responsible for the planning, organization, direction, supervision, and coordination of various technical and engineering activities and projects of the Air Pollution Control District related to emissions, inventories, transportation, review and analysis, rule development and incentive programs; and performs related duties as required.
 
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The successful candidate will possess considerable experience implementing air quality incentive programs, such as Carl Moyer, FARMER, or similar programs and have prior supervisory experience.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE: 
Considerable experience in air pollution control leading to the acquisition of the required knowledge and abilities.
   
The required knowledge and abilities also can be obtained by completion of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and at least two (2) years of experience in air pollution control or a closely related environmental field.
 
SUBSTITUTION: 
A master's degree in engineering may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
   
Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Professional Engineer or as an Engineer-in-Training issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
   
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid California driver license.
  • Experience or knowledge of implementing air quality incentive programs, such as Carl Moyer, FARMER, or similar programs.
 
HIGHLY DESIRABLE:
  • Experience supervising subordinate staff.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is performed in an office environment and occasionally outdoors performing inspections. Incumbents may be required to bend, crawl, climb, reach, crouch, kneel, and occasionally lift objects up to 25 pounds. The classification may be exposed to hazardous conditions.
