Lancaster Names Marissa Diaz and Larissa De La Cruz as Directors of Public Works and Community Development

Two accomplished women have been promoted to key management roles in the City of Lancaster.

Former Lancaster Assistant Director Marissa Diaz has been named Director of Public Works, while former Community Development Senior Manager Larissa De La Cruz is now serving as that department’s Director.

The city issued the following statement on the recent promotions:

Marissa Diaz has been an invaluable member for over 18 years, demonstrating her expertise and leadership in the field of Public Works. As the former Lancaster Assistant Director - Capital Programs, she was responsible for programming and oversight of the City's Capital Improvement Program, including over $150M in transportation, facilities and utility projects, the $50M Road Bond and our $10M annual Pavement Management Program. She has overseen numerous critical infrastructure projects, including the recent rehabilitation of several roads and bridges. We are thrilled to have her lead our Public Works Department and continue to ensure the safety and functionality of our City's infrastructure.

Larissa De La Cruz has been a vital contributor to our City's economic growth and development. She has led a team of traffic engineers and city planners in the completion of several major city projects including zoning text amendments, master planned developments, specific plans, and the implementation of the city’s cannabis ordinance, and other initiatives to further streamline and update the City’s processes.  She has a deep understanding of the local economy and has worked tirelessly with the development community to ensure smart growth and investment. We are confident that she will continue to do excellent work in her new position as Director of Community Development.
