Scarface for Council: Rapper Makes Run for Houston City Government

Brad Jordan, also known as “Scarface” from the hip-hop group Geto Boys, has announced his candidacy for Houston’s District D council seat. He broke the news in an Instagram post this week after gathering input from friends and fans.

Jordan might best be known for his rhymes, but he’s no stranger to public service.

“Jordan is a founding member of The Positive Purpose Movement, which supports education and empowerment programs for underrepresented communities,” the Houston Chronicle reports. “The rapper also talked to local students last year about bringing music entrepreneurship programs to their schools.”

His education initiatives were recognized by the city recently when June 26 was declared “Brad 'Scarface' Jordan Day” in Houston.
