Santa Rosa Man Gets Back at the City With Nude Mannequins
A Santa Rosa resident who was forced to tear down his new $9,000 fence because it exceeded height requirements is sticking it to the city and the anonymous neighbor who complained in one of the most creative ways imaginable.
Jason Windus erected the six-foot fence so he would have a safe enclosure for his dogs. But city code prohibits side fences taller than three feet. After receiving a complaint, Santa Rosa officials made him take it down. Now, there’s a three-foot fence up — and then some.
Going on behind the short, new fence of the Windus side yard at Peterson and Sundance Street is a garden party by five nude mannequins.
Four of the fairly anatomically accurate fashion dummies occupy wicker chairs around a matching table. The fifth stands with her arms over her head and modesty shamrocks placed where they need to be placed.
A posted, hand-scrawled sign by Windus reads, “Reserved seat for the nosey neighbor that complained about my fence to the city.”
As a wise person once said, be careful what you wish for.
