Avalon Councilwoman Pam Albers Dead at 62

Avalon Councilwoman Pamela Albers has passed away, according to the city. She was 62 years old.

“We are absolutely devastated,” Avalon Mayor Anni Marshall, told the Catalina Islander. She described Albers’ death as a “shock.”

“It’s a sad day on Catalina,” she added.

Albers died Sunday at a hospital in Torrance. The cause of death was not immediately clear. Because of the unexpected nature of her passing, no funeral arrangements have been announced.

Albers was elected to the City Council in 2018. Her current term ends in 2022. Marshall said now is a time for mourning and that no discussions have been held regarding a replacement yet.
