Fresno Councilman Rails Against Abortion, Gun Control, and Concept of “Toxic Masculinity” in Twitter Tirade

Fresno City Councilman Garry Bredefeld waded into some of the most controversial cultural issues of the day last weekend with what can only be described as an epic tweetstorm.

As part of the online diatribe, it seems no hot-button issue was left unscathed. Bredefeld railed against late-term abortion laws in New York and Virginia and “leftist extremist” rhetoric like the term “toxic masculinity,” which he says is just a euphemism for neutering men. He also sounded off on gun control, taxation, and more.

Some critics called the tweets embarrassing and unbecoming of a city official. But in a follow-up interview with the Fresno Bee, the councilman doubled down.

“Many of those people who differ with what I’m saying, they’re like many of the people in this country who support infanticide, who are against God, who are anti-American, anti-Christian, anti traditional values, against police, and against military,” he told The Bee.
