Personnel Changes Afoot in Novato

The City of Novato has hired a new community development director as its assistant city manager prepares to depart.

Vicki Parker assumed the community development director’s post Monday, replacing Bob Brown, who retired earlier this month. She previously held the same title in Cotati. She’ll earn a base salary of $169,872 per year.

Meanwhile, Novato’s assistant city manager Peggy Flynn is headed to Petaluma to assume the top administrator’s position. Flynn has been with Novato for the past seven years. As a result of her move, she’ll see a salary boost from $170,000 to $210,000 per year.

"Peggy has been an incredible asset to Novato,” Mayor Eric Lucan said in a statement. “She is an exceptionally experienced manager who has transformed the way we engage our community and our staff, which has ultimately improved our decision-making process. Her impact is far-reaching. We will greatly miss her.”

Flynn’s last day is Feb. 7.
