El Cerrito Hires New City Manager

El Cerrito Assistant City Manager Karen Pinkos is assuming the top administrator’s position, following the December retirement of City Manager Scott Hanin. Pinkos will earn an annual salary of $230,000 per her contract with the city.

Pinkos began her career in public service working for the City of Oak Park, Michigan. She became Assistant to the City Manager of El Cerrito in 2001 and Assistant City Manager five years later.

Pinkos attended Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan and the Senior Executives in State and the Local Government Program at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley Executive Seminar program and represents the city on a number of boards, including the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and the California City Management Foundation (CCMF) Board of Trustees.
