Milpitas Hires New Economic Development Director

Mountain View Economic Development Manager Alex Andrade has been hired for the Economic Development Director position in Milpitas. City Manager Julie Edmonds-Mares announced Andrade’s hiring earlier this month. He’ll take over on Dec. 10, overseeing an array of economic development, revitalization and revenue enhancement efforts.

Andrade has headed economic development planning in Mountain View for the past five years. He previously worked for the now shuttered redevelopment agencies in San Jose, Los Angeles and San Francisco, which were the largest in the state at the time. He has also held government positions in Menlo Park and Poway and worked as a program officer at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.

“Alex brings a wealth of education and experience to our team and I’m excited to have him on-board to hit the ground running,” said City Manager Edmonds-Mares in a press release. “He has a strong track record of creating a vibrant and competitive business environment to ensure there is a healthy local economy providing job opportunities and revenue to the city. He will be key in continuing to build strong relationships with the corporate and real estate community and the residents of Milpitas.”
