America’s Priciest Zip Codes

It’s that time of year. Real estate data provider PropertyShark has released its annual rankings of the most expensive zip codes based on the latest home sale data, and the Golden State is all over this list.

A full 82 out of America’s 100 priciest neighborhoods are in California, according to PropertyShark. That includes the #1 most expensive zip code in the U.S., Atherton’s 94027, located in San Mateo County. The median sales price for a home there was $6,700,000 in 2018.

San Francisco and New York both have the largest share of neighborhoods of any city on the list (9). The highest concentration is in the Silicon Valley, which is home to a whopping 30 — yes, 30! — of the nation’s priciest zips.

Los Angeles had the highest number of expensive zip codes of any county. Santa Monica’s 90402 led the way with a median sales price of $3.76 million.
