Mystery Surrounds Napa Public Works Director’s Hiatus

Napa Public Works Director Jacques LaRochelle is temporarily off duty while his deputy Eric Whan oversees operations at the agency, the Napa Valley Register reports

The city has said LaRochelle’s hiatus is a result of “an allegation we are looking into,” but would not say any more. LaRochelle has headed the Public Works Department for 10 years.

In addition, the Register reports that Assistant City Manager Peter Pirnejad will soon be leaving. He has been on the job since February. A reason was not given for his upcoming departure either.

Napa has undergone some significant personnel changes recently. City Manager Mike Parness retired at the end of July after 11 years with the city. Steve Potter is currently serving as interim city manager.
