The City of San Bernardino has retained the services of Best Best & Krieger LLP, a premier law firm that services both private and public entities, including some 250 cities and counties.

The agreement between BB&K and San Bernardino was announced in an Aug. 2 press release from BB&K.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Best Best & Krieger LLP is honored to begin serving as legal counsel to the City of San Bernardino and to be a part of the City’s bright future. The firm’s retainer agreement for municipal legal services was approved by the full City Council late Wednesday. The BB&K team, led by Sonia Carvalho and including Thomas Rice and John Brown, looks forward to working cooperatively with elected City Attorney Gary Saenz.

“The City of San Bernardino is known for its diverse culture and rich history. It is an integral part of California’s story,” Carvalho said. “I am proud that I will be able to assist the City in its legal affairs, and to help write its next chapters.”

Carvalho has served as city attorney for a number of California cities, including the City of Santa Ana. She advises on all aspects of municipal law, providing trusted counsel to public agencies on the myriad of issues they face, including ethics, open meeting laws, land use and elections law. She is married with a son and daughter. She earned her law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law.

BB&K serves as city attorney to nearly 50 California cities. The firm’s Municipal Law attorneys help cities successfully maneuver through legal complexities and governmental directives, enabling them to focus on providing superior service to their communities. BB&K is largely recognized as one of the most diverse law firms in the country, earning accolades for its commitment to the advancement of both women and minorities in the legal profession.

Best Best & Krieger LLP is a national law firm that focuses on environmental, business, education, municipal and telecommunications law for public agency and private clients. With more than 200 attorneys, the law firm has 10 offices nationwide, including Ontario, Riverside, Indian Wells and Washington, D.C.
