Clearlake Hires New Police Chief

Suisan City Police Commander Andrew White has been chosen as the next head of Clearlake’s police department. The decision to appoint White was unanimous and followed an extensive recruitment process that attracted more than 20 candidates.

City Manager Greg Folsom described White’s background check as “glowing.”

He “has an excellent police background and supervision experience covering several key areas of challenge that we have in Clearlake, including animal control and code enforcement. He also brings an extraordinary knowledge of technology that will be an asset to both the Police Department and City Hall in general,” Folsom said.

White began his law enforcement career as a dispatcher in Napa. He later joined the Suisan City PD, rising the ranks to commander in 2015. In addition to his work on the force, White currently chairs the Solano County Animal Control Authority and the Solano County Law Enforcement Commanders Association and has taught at the Napa Valley College Police Academy for more than a decade.

White will take over on July 30 at an annual salary of $130,000. His contract calls for a 5 percent increase after two years plus additional benefits.
