Solano Beach Mayor Resigns
Solano Beach Mayor Virginia Marshall abruptly resigned from the city council Thursday without explanation, becoming the second member of the council to leave unexpectedly in the past month.
“I want to leave on a good note, not a sour note,” said Marshall, a first-term member who has served in the rotating position for the past four months. She thanked residents of the community but did not specify her reasons for leaving in a letter to the city manager.
NBC San Diego reports that she and her husband are moving out of the area.
On March 11, the city was hit with another startling departure when Councilmember Mike Nichols announced he was stepping down due to “pressing family matters.” The council was supposed to make a decision on Nichols’ replacement soon. It will now have to decide what to do about both vacancies at its next meeting on April 11.
