California City is Being Sued by Its Former Fire Chief

California City’s former fire chief has filed a wrongful termination suit alleging government corruption and collusion with members of the city’s marijuana industry.

As City News reported last month, Chief Just Vincent claims he was told to look the other way when it came to enforcing fire codes on marijuana businesses. His suit specifically accuses City Manager Robert Stockwell of asking him to show leniency “regardless if buildings were up to fire code because of the positive revenue impact on the city.” Vincent also claims that he was offered bribes by cannabis cultivators.

“I DO want my job back,” Vincent told the Mojave Desert News.  “I still want to serve this community, and I definitely want my job back.”

That will be difficult. The California City Council has already hired former Kern County Fire Marshall David Goodell for the job.

If the November elections proved one thing, it’s that voters across L.A. County are still willing to open their wallets for the promise of better services, infrastructure, and schools.
