Imperial Beach Official Murdered While Vacationing in Mexico

Imperial Beach Administrative Services Director Doug Bradley was shot and killed while vacationing in Ixtapa, Mexico over the Christmas holiday, according to a city press release issued Friday. The Huntington Beach native was just one day shy of his 50th birthday.

Bradley, a lifelong surfer, had been vacationing in the town of Zihuatanejo. Mexican authorities were informed of his death at around 8:00 a.m. Dec. 28, but the shooting appears to have occurred several hours earlier.

Robbery is the suspected motive. Mexican authorities have mentioned substance abuse as a possible factor, but Bradley's sister vehemently denies there was any substance abuse problem.

“Doug Bradley was loved by all that knew him,” said the city’s Mayor Serge Dedina. “He was always positive, loved to surf, and had helped to turn around the City of Imperial Beach’s financial management as well as restructure city administration to make it more efficient and resident friendly. He will be missed by everyone who knew him and worked with him.”
