Folsom has hired a new Community Development Director. Pam Johns, Associate Vice President of global planning engineering firm Michael Baker International, will take over September 6. She brings more than two decades of experience in planning, design and staff management for both the public and private sectors.

City Manager Evert Palmer said “Pam’s highly-respected leadership skills, insight and institutional knowledge will be an excellent addition to Folsom’s strong executive team.”

Johns began her career in city government in Folsom in 1993 when she began working for the Community Development Department.

“I’m incredibly proud to come back to Folsom and continue the city’s tradition of sound planning, high public engagement and exemplary service,” she said.

Johns holds a bachelor’s degree in city and regional planning from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a degree in urban design from Czech Technical University in Prague, Czechoslovakia.

As head of Community Development Department she will manage a range of operations and development initiatives, while also serving as an advisor to the Folsom Planning Commission.
