America’s Most Interesting Mayors: A List

These days, it’s especially tempting to keep our focus on national politics and the fanfare surrounding the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in particular. But there’s more to life and politics than Washington D.C., and there are all sorts of interesting things and people at the local level right now.

Let’s start with America’s most interesting mayors. Politico has just compiled a list of them based on dozens of surveys of “national and local political junkies.”

Two of them hail from California, including No. 1 and No. 3 on the list. We could have used more, but this list is a short one so we’ll take what we can get.

Without further ado, here are the most interesting mayors in the United States, according to Politico. Find out why.

1. Eric Garcetti | Los Angeles, California

2. Hillary Schieve | Reno, Nevada

3. Kevin Faulconer | San Diego, California

4. Greg Fischer | Louisville, Kentucky

5. Marty Walsh | Boston, Massachusetts

6. Michael Hancock | Denver, Colorado

7. Jennifer Roberts | Charlotte, North Carolina

8. Tomás Regalado | Miami, Florida

9. Jackie Biskupski | Salt Lake City, Utah

10. Bill Peduto | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Compton’s Aja Brown also made the list of 7 mayors to watch.
