Walnut Creek Hires San Luis Obispo CAO Dan Buckshi

There’s a new city manager coming to Walnut Creek.

Dan Buckshi, County Administrative Officer for San Luis Obispo, was hired by the city council Tuesday. A proposed contract puts his salary at $254,000, plus a home loan of up to $300,000.

“Dan has a wealth of experience that would complement our already exceptionally strong organization,” said Mayor Rich Carlston ahead of Tuesday’s vote. “He is known for his expertise in building consensus in pursuit of achieving a common goal.”

Buckshi has served as San Luis Obispo’s CAO since 2012. He had previously worked as a county administrative analyst, Budget Director and Assistant County Administrative Officer. During his tenure, San Luis Obispo closed a major budget gap and saw its bond rating increase to AAA.

Buckshi replaces Ken Nordhoff who left last year.
