Gov. Brown urged to give cities new economic development tools

It’s time for locals to have some new economic development tools in their toolbox, they argue.  “Losing redevelopment has harmed our local communities,” they write. “Infrastructure improvements, economic development and affordable housing came to a near standstill.

The bill by Assemblyman Luis Alejo (D-Watsonville), would allow local governments in the poorest areas of the state to establish Community Revitalization and Investment Authorities to collect tax increment.
