California Cities Top List Of Top 100 Best Places To Live has released its list of the top 100 places to live in America and California’s very own Palo Alto stands at #1.

To determine the rankings, Livability analyzed data from over 1,700 cities. The criteria included number of amenities; demographics/diversity; economic outlook; education; health care; housing; infrastructure and transportation; and social and civic capital, such as crime rates and air quality.

Palo Alto earned its top spot as a result of mild weather, a robust economy, and widespread access to various “cultural and natural amenities.” Livability also cited the city’s housing availability and the prestigious Stanford University as factors contributing to the city’s appeal.

Boulder, Colorado took the #2 spot and was followed by the City of Berkeley.

“Berkeley is evolving its hippie past, allowing for denser development but keeping its focus on local businesses and culture,” Livability’s website states. “The town, home to the popular University of California campus, is reinvesting in a livable, energetic downtown area filled with great places to eat and shop.”

Other cities in the top 10 include Durham, North Carolina (4); Miami Beach, Florida (5); Rochester, Minnesota (6); Salt Lake City, Utah (7); Eugene, Oregon (8); Reno, Nevada (9); and Rockville, Maryland (10).

Santa Clara and Pasadena made it into the top 20, coming in at #15 and #20 respectively.
